I had such an amazing experience at Ascension St. Vincent’s Clay County for my labor and delivery, and I truly can’t say enough about the nurses. They were absolutely incredible from start to finish. They made me feel so comfortable, supported, and cared for during such an emotional and important moment in my life. The nurses were very patient, kind, and attentive. They checked on me often, made sure I was as comfortable as possible, and explained everything clearly so I never felt confused or alone. Anytime I needed something, they responded quickly and with such a positive attitude. Their reassurance and encouragement really helped me stay calm and strong during labor. After delivery, they continued to provide amazing care for both me and my baby. They took their time to answer all my questions and made sure I felt confident before going home. You can tell they truly care about their patients. Overall, the nurses made my experience so special and memorable. I’m so grateful for their support and kindness. I would definitely recommend this hospital to any expecting mom!
The stars are for the nurses and front desk attendant as they were good! Otherwise I would give a one star. Wait time was short and intake was quick. Intake nurse out front had the warmth of a turnip but I guess that doesn't really matter. He made me feel like a number. The issue I have is with Dr. Kelvin James Harold who, per Web MD, has a rating of 2.0 stars. I had been unable to eat or sleep much for a week and had a migraine with other strange symptoms. Primary was booked so I went to ER. Before I even finished explaining my symptoms Kelvin held his hand up and said “Stop, what do you do for exercise?” I was dumbfounded. I laid out my exercise routine (which was irrelevant) and he replied that yoga, water aerobics and walking were not adequate exercise. He was argumentative and condescending. He implied that if I did not need CPR he could not help me. He made sure to let me know that he went to a Christian college in a blue state….why?? I’m still bewildered by this interaction and sad because I had always defended this hospital to others. I really thought med schools were teaching the importance of bedside manner. I left the hospital very upset. I drove all the way to Mayo Clinic and had exceptional care from the physician on duty. He was kind, fast and he LISTENED! Fluids and migraine medication helped me a lot. If you are a middle aged woman not requiring CPR I would highly suggest going to a different ER.
The first time I went in to your emergency department on April 15 2026 was treated for vertigo how ever the CT-SCAN results indicated that I had a stroke on the Brain Stem. I was given a pill for vertigo although I told the doctor that I was not dizzy. I was sent home 5 hours later with a prescription for vertigo. The doctor told me if I feel any symptoms of a stroke or dizzy to come immediately to the emergency room. On Friday the 17th of April I saw my PCP DR. Mohamed he requested my ER records and was concerned that I was sent home because the SCAN results was also a stroke. He also recommended to go to the ER if I felt any symptoms of a Stroke or dizzy or a headache. On April 18th 2026 I felt dizziness and went to the ER as indicated I had another CT-SCAN results indicated I had a Stroke. I was then admitted in the hospital had an MRI and an Echocardiogram. MRI indicated I had a stroke. Echocardiogram was good. I was treated with medication blood thinners, aspirin, plavix. Was discharged from the hospital on April 20th, 2026. I think I was misdiagnosed the first time and dangerously discharged from emergency room the first time and should not be charged then I had to enter the hospital for the second time because I was not giving the right information, medication or diagnosis. I believe I should get compensated for putting my life in danger and I should have to pay for that.
The staff was very compassionate and caring. The room was very clean and well stocked. The doctors that came to see us while we were there were very pleasant and knowledgeable. Their instructions were very easy to understand. The care team was exceptional. A huge thank you to all of those who helped care for my Mother! This is where I would go again if I need to in the future for care in an emergency situation.
They went way above and beyond to help me with the financial side of things due to not having insurance not to mention saved my life. They also made sure I had the prescription I needed to stay healthy until I seen my doctor. Then they provided a ride home due to me being brought in by ambulance and not having my own car. To say this hospital is amazing is an understatement. Keep up the excellent work.
