Exceptional from front to back! The restaurant is located with a beautiful on-the-water backdrop of the San Sebastian River, where upon arrival, you instantly get the aroma of live-fire grilling meat. We had a breezy spot near the outdoor bar and had a nice bottle of 2021 Opus One, and started with salads. For me, the absolute star of the show was the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, which I would rate as one of the best salads I have ever had! A massive offering with absolutely incredible flavor combinations of the Golden Beets, countless Dried Cherries and Spiced Pecans, Goat Cheese crumbles, crisp Arugula, and delicious white Balsamic Basil Vinaigrette that blew me away. It not only was delicious, but a show-stopping visual as well- with the Sweety Drop Red Peppers floating throughout. Incredible and large enough to split 3 ways. We had pre-ordered the Iberico Pork Milanese chops which were succulent and tender and extremely flavorful. Great service from Alex and Sofia (with an f not ph 😉), a fantastic atmosphere and scenic setting, and fabulously prepared and beautiful top quality dishes make Asado Life a very memorable dining destination.
Fantastic quality steaks expertly grilled over wood fire, impeccable service and inspired menu options. The location and the view are also wonderful. Lunch menu is excellent and reasonably priced, enjoyed the rice bowls and gorgonzola steak sandwich. Dinner is a little fancier but a fun atmosphere for a special or romantic night. Also love the marketplace, overall an amazing restaurant, especially for grill enthusiasts!
Asado Life is one of the most charming spots in St. Augustine, with an incredible waterfront view, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality. While the portion-to-price ratio leans a bit small, the execution of the kitchen is undeniable. As an Argentinean, I feel it is helpful to frame expectations: this is fundamentally an American upscale concept with subtle Argentine inspiration, rather than a traditional asado experience. Most menu choices depart significantly from classic Río de la Plata tradition. The meat in the Asado Trio—a delicious, perfectly bloody picanha—is actually a quintessential Brazilian cut rather than a classic Argentine tira de asado or entraña. The chicken featured heavy seasoning while traditional Argentine grill leans heavily on minimalist seasoning, just coarse salt, black pepper, and occasionally a splash of lemon juice to let the open-fire flavor take center stage. Additionally, the chorizo felt more like a sausage compared to artisanal chorizo criollo. Pairing gnocchi with lobster or serving red potatoes as "gaucho potatoes" are creative American fusion twists, but far removed from the classics in my home country. Broccoli is never served in a traditional parrillada. I missed simple, crisp side salads like endive with light dressing to cut through the richness of the fat. The menu lists provoleta, but it is actually provolone, missing that essential hard, aged signature texture. Asado Life offers a fantastic, high-end American dining experience with thin brush strokes from the Gaucho experience. If you have been at a traditional, rustic Argentine parrilla keep these differences in mind.
Love coming for the lunch, such a nice vibe, outdoor seating is excellent on the river,, food delicious. Love their steak gorgonzola sandwich and fries., Tender quality meat on a great brioche roll, and the salad with white vinaigrette dressing is scrumptious. So much nice variety of stuff in there! The beets were different, yellow I think, delicious. Always friendly staff, good drinks, on the Sebastian River. Nice bar outside too. We did the dinner there once, they are the real deal with their grilling over wood fire! See the tomahawk steaks in the photo!
Food was really really good. Service was a bit slow and our server never asked us if we'd like another drink so that was disappointing. Good thing that the water bearers kept coming by. I'd still recommend it for the food and atmosphere alone.
