If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers something beyond the ordinary, Alder & Oak is worth the visit. Their philosophy is simple—everything is cooked over a live wood fire—and you can taste the difference in every dish. The menu draws inspiration from Aegean cuisine, using high-quality, thoughtfully sourced ingredients that let the natural flavors shine. One detail I really appreciated is their commitment to cooking with olive oil or beef tallow instead of highly processed seed oils. It adds incredible depth of flavor while staying true to traditional cooking methods. The restaurant has a warm, upscale atmosphere that’s perfect for a date night or special occasion. Their extensive wine collection offers plenty of excellent pairings, and the rooftop bar is a fantastic place to unwind before or after dinner with a great drink and beautiful views. From the smoky aromas of the wood-fired kitchen to the attentive service and beautifully presented food, Alder & Oak delivers a memorable dining experience. If you enjoy bold flavors, quality ingredients, and a unique approach to cooking, this Jacksonville gem deserves a spot on your must-visit list.
The place was amazing! Our server Rori was kind, attentive, and answered all of our many many questions about the menu (lol). I decided to get the market fish, which was branzino, and it was SO flaky and tasty. I loved the eggplant on top, and the bite I had of my husband’s souvlaki was very juicy and tzatziki was perfect. If I had to write anything even remotely negative it would just be I’m picky with chairs since I work alot, and I wish they were just a tad bit more comfortable for extended sitting, but that’s hard to come by any place. Can’t recommend enough to anyone however.
The ambiance is nice but the service was really really slow, our specific server did not seem like she wanted to be there, and definitely didn't match the vibe of a nicer restaurant. Some of the food was great some of it meh. Hummus was awesome and good portion size, bruschetta was so good but weird that it wasn't pre sliced. The sides are expensive, 9 dollars for 5 carrots (literally) and $9 for a really small portion of fingerIing potatoes. I would give it another try to see if service is different and just have drinks and appetizers.
Food was DELICIOUS! There was a blip in the kitchen when our food got delayed and Michael was SO sweet and had us covered. Fabulous night for a GNO. Will definitely be back! x
Absolutely amazing experience at Alder & Oak in Jacksonville! The atmosphere is beautiful, warm, and the food was truly outstanding. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and you could really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. This is definitely one of those restaurants where you leave already thinking about what you want to order next time! 🤍✨ Alder & Oak is absolutely a must-try in Jacksonville. We will definitely be back!
