This place is fantastic, we went for the first time. Took my elderly parents, great service. Very helpful and friendly staff. An excellent authentic food. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant!. Street parking or if unavailable go up on the roof. It's very convenient. The bar makes their own mixers and the drinks were also good. Very charming.
Dear Ajua- I’m so sorry I probably jinxed the game because Mexico literally scored when I walked out the door. Then they lost. I’m sorry. But they can’t lose twice in the World Cup so I’ll be back for the big screen and $1 wings omgggg. The nachos were amazing too but I forgot my horchata ice cream. Oh well cuz I will be back! The drinks were good per a friend and the bartender did allow samples cuz you know you don’t always like a drink if it’s flavored. I’d love a good food spot for the cup that’s just like this so hopefully they continue and lean into some of the sports stuff. There isn’t a lot of good places to watch the game without a cover and with good parking (I’m just a girl😜) The sports and friend got me in the door but the food will bring me back. I will be monitoring the return of the sushi menu. Parking on the roof is top tier and I will creep back over with the receipt to get on the roof of my car! Dangit I forgot cuz I left at the half. It’s cuz I wore the pizza shirt to a Mexican restaurant Sorry 🇲🇽 😭.
I could not recommend this restaurant more!! We went for the vegan challenge and tried the huitlacoche enchiladas, quesadillas, and one of the jackfruit birria and fried cauliflower tacos. Everything was sensational, beautifully presented, and satisfying. This is now my favorite Mexican place in Jacksonville. PLEASE keep some of these items on your menu after the challenge ends, I will make the 40 minute drive and bring family and friends 👍 our server was the bar manager and he was fantastic - completely on top of the menu and our drinks. Again, could not recommend this restaurant more.
Great food & service and music. It was our first experience here and we were delighted with the ambiance and surprised it wasn’t crowded, especially on this Memorial Weekend. The four of us had separate meal choices and were each happy with our choices and the accompanying dips and sauces. Highly recommend this new addition the beach vibe. There is Valet parking in the rear. Weekend music added to our enjoyment.
AJUA Mexican Kitchen & Bar is one of those places that instantly feels inviting. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. It works just as well for a laid-back dinner as it does for a fun night out. We ordered from their ELITE menu, and every dish truly lived up to the name. The Air Nachos were a great way to start—light, crispy, and packed with flavor without feeling heavy. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was fresh and refreshing, with a nice balance of citrus, spice, and tender shrimp. One standout dish was the grilled steak over crispy potatoes, finished with chipotle aioli and chimichurri sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and the sauces tied everything together beautifully. The quesabirria with jus was rich, cheesy, and incredibly satisfying, with deep, slow-cooked flavor that made every bite memorable. The tacos were excellent across the board. We tried the crispy chicken, goat barbacoa, cauliflower, and carnitas, and each one had its own distinct character. From crunchy and savory to tender and boldly seasoned, there wasn’t a single miss. The quesadilla with huitlacoche was another highlight—earthy, comforting, and something you don’t see on every menu, which made it even more special. The margaritas were smooth and well-balanced, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, AJUA Mexican Kitchen & Bar delivers on flavor, quality, and experience. If you’re looking for Mexican cuisine done with care and creativity, this is a place you’ll want to return to again and again.
